In a historic gesture to foster diplomatic relations between China and the Malay Sultanate of Melaka, the Chinese Emperor dispatches Princess Li Po, accompanied by Admiral Meng You, as an envoy of friendship. Initially, Princess Li Po is reluctant, bound by duty to reveal her true love to the Sultan of Melaka upon arrival. However, her journey takes an unexpected turn as she becomes enchanted by the warmth and hospitality of the Melakan people and their Sultan. Embracing her role, she realizes her mission transcends personal desires, embodying her father’s vision to strengthen ties between the two great nations. The story of Hang Li Po is a dramatized adaptation, inspired by historical records of the diplomatic bond between the Chinese Emperor and the Malay Sultanate of Melaka.
